Seven Years? SHEESH!

So seven years ago today I had my perfect day!  I married the man I love and it pretty much went off w/out a hitch!  Now fast forward to present....sooo much has changed.  We have changed.  Both of us.  Our niece, Julie got married last October and I found myself in a position to give the same advice I received 7 yrs ago.  I really do think that our excellent communication skills have been our saving grace. We really did have an advantage by dating long distance for so long.  What I find funny is that advice people want to give you, "don't go to bed mad".....wellllllll in my opinion sometimes that is just unavoidable.  Sometimes, if you sleep on it, things look different the next morning.  Always say ur sorry when you are wrong.  Sometimes, I think our age had a lot to do w/ it also.  I understand now, hindsight being 20/20 and all, when ppl say "you're too young to understand"....I think it's really a question of maturity and learning life lessons.
I think about the advice I will one day give my girls.  I think they would be the same.  I think I would tell them to be good communicators and be mature enough to admit when you are wrong.

I remember stories from different ppl saying how my dad "worshipped" my mom.  Although I never witnessed it since they divorced when I was 3.  I think it was true, or at least I'd like to believe it was.  I honestly never thought i would find that or even get married.  Im amazed sometimes at how big i have been blessed.  Mark makes me feel like I matter and my feelings matter.  He makes me feel loved and secure.  I love how he always wants and always trys desperately to "fix" things or make me smile.  I want my girls to know that feeling.  I want them love and be loved by someone who makes them feel all those things and feels that connection.  I want them to find their best friend in their husband.

Wow, seven years!  I really does feel like it has been many more, but they have been seven GREAT years.  Can't wait to see what the next 7 bring!  I love you, Mark!

Another Dream

Dream or nightmare....

Well Im awake now.  Another dream, the same dream each time.  A grim reminder of a sad time...
It's always the same.  In the dream, I awake from sleep while sitting at my mother's bedside. My eyes focus in on the clock on the wall.  It's 3:15am in the morning.  It's Friday, May 21, 2004.  Next my eyes find my mother lying on her bed on her back.  Her eyes are closed and she looks peaceful.  Except I notice her breathing, its short and shallow.  Her nasal oxygen has been moved, no longer in her nose.  Im not sure how long it actually took for my brain to register that something wasn't right, but I know the next minute I am yelling down the hall to what, in retrospect, was probably an intern.  He looked frightened when I said "Please come quick!"  He grabbed an older woman. She looked kind (yes it's funny the things you remember about tragic or sudden events after the fact).  She rushed to my mother's side. I watched almost in denial in my mind that this was actually happening.  She then turned to me, "Im so sorry", she said.  I hugged her!  I didn't know what to do! I actually hugged a stranger!  She WAS kind.  She hugged me back.  I think she asked if there was anything she could do or call.  I remember thinking  (not sure if it came our of my mouth...) I need to make the calls.  I must've said it...b/c the next thing I remember was being shown to a phone at the nurses station. I have no idea who I called first, but the next thing I remember is returning my mother's room.  Where else was I going to go?  What was I supposed to do now? I remember asking myself if it was really happening. When I got to her room, they were bathing her.  The nice nurse said that they had to call the hospital and have her officially pronounced.  I knew what she meant. I believe I asked if i needed to stay.  I wanted to although Im not sure why.  I guess if I left it meant that it was real and my mother was gone.  But she was gone and I do leave finally.  Then I awake in tears.

My dream "allows" me to relive those events as if it happened yesterday.  I don't really want to relive those moments.
Well it's been forever since I wrote on this blog.  It seems that everyone is now on FB and not following blogs or at least ours.  :)  We don't lead an exciting life, but definitely a happy one.  Molly just turned 5 this month! Oh my....where has the time gone.  In the last three years we have added a new addition (altough it's not official).  Her name is Abigail.  We got her when she was only 3 days old!?  Can you believe how blessed we have been. It has been a struggle of a different sort.  Her birth mother has contested the terminaton of her rights, so it is delaying the adoption process.  But soon enough we will officially be the Fleming Four!  This journey with the adoption of our girls has literally been like God's perfect plan revealing itself all His perfect time.  We also attend church now.  We attend New Salem Baptist church here in Soddy Daisy.  Mark and I love it there and love the children's program they have for our girls.

I think now that blogs (at least ours) isn't followed as much now, im going to start writing some of my personal thoughts and feelings as sort of a journal.  If people read them, thats ok too.  :)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Mark and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary yesterday!! WAHOO!! What an accomplishment--if I do say so myself!!! I know out of MOST of the people we know, we were the last to get hitched and to all of you 4 years is nothing in comparison, but it sure feels like quite the accomplishment to us!!
Mark's big joke is that my "term" is over and his "term" is beginning!! Meaning he's gonna wear the pants now!! LMAO Yeah Right! If that's the case, why was it that when we awoke yesterday morning... he was the one chanting "FOUR MORE YEARS....FOUR MORE YEARS"?? It sounds like he wants me to retain my title! Which I am happy to do, of course! So here's to FOUR MORE YEARS.... and many more.

I love you, Mark -- and I love being your wife :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOLLYBUG!

Today is Molly's 2nd birthday!!!

We cannot believe it's been 2 years already. It seems like just yesterday we were in the hospital with her waiting to take her home!! :)

As many of you probably know, our baby girl is quite the talker for her age. Everywhere we go people comment on how well she is talking and carrying on conversation. She IS a smart girl, our Mollybug! This week we have talked to her about her birthday and how old she will be. Mark told her Monday night "Molly, Friday is your birthday!!" Being the smart one she is, the days following she felt the need to tell EVERYONE she could that "Fri-Day is her birthday!" All the teachers at daycare have gotten the biggest kick out of it...everyday this week telling us how she has reminded them that her birthday is on FriDay!! ( I type it like that, b/c the way she pronounces it! She sounds like Forest Gump!! but it's TOOO cute!)

Prior to this week, we began asking her how old she is. Her answer was usually, "I six" .... WHA???? I don't think so...so after much practice she now knows that today she is two years old. (As she shows you 2 fingers representing her age!)

Well to celebrate this momentous occasion, we are having her birthday party tomorrow. It's Abby Cadabby theme (from Sesame Street) Today - she is celebrating with all her friends/teachers @ daycare .... we took Abby Cadabby, pink/purple cupcakes to the share w/ her friends at snack time!

CAn't wait to celebrate tomorrow and spend the day with our baby girl!

Happy Birthday Molly B.

Mommy and Daddy love you more than anything.
